The District and SCARCE will host a Latex Paint Recycling event on Saturday October, 24, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Administration Center at 2710 Curtiss Street in Downers Grove. Beginning over the next few days, a contractor by the name of Austin Tyler Construction, will be doing some sewer replacement work on Sherman Street between Prospect Avenue and Stanley Avenue in Downers Grove. Beginning within the next several weeks, a contractor by the name of Insituform Technologies, will be doing some sewer reconstruction on Stanley Avenue between Ogden Avenue and Grant Avenue in Downers Grove. Instead of digging up and replacing the old pipeline, a process called lining will be utilized to reconstruct approximately 1,550 Ft. of badly deteriorated sewer. Regretfully, the Downers Grove Sanitary District has decided to cancel the 2020 Open House due to uncertainty caused by COVID-19. This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is in the best interest of our guests and our employees. We hope to see you at the next scheduled open house in 2021!

The District currently has an opening for a full-time Laboratory Analyst position at the Wastewater Treatment Center. This position is responsible for sample collection and laboratory analysis for biosolids, stream, surcharge, industrial, and plant monitoring; conducts laboratory evaluations in accordance with regulations derived primarily from Standard Methods and the USEPA; and operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation as well as sampling equipment. Starting August 1, the District will be applying late fees and penalties to any District customer accounts that are delinquent after the Friday, August 14 due date. The District did not apply any late fees or penalties during the months of April, May, June or July due to the existing COVID-19 pandemic. The restoration project aims to improve water quality, recreation and education on Salt Creek at Fullersburg Woods, while respecting the history of the site. The District has resumed biosolids deliveries and is now accepting delivery requests for residents and businesses.
