District Begins Westmont Alley Sewer Replacement Project

The District recently began replacing the public sanitary sewer mainlines and the individual building sanitary service pipes in the public right of way in the alley behind 132 W. Burlington Avenue. The construction will continue east to the manhole in the alley behind 34 W. Burlington Avenue and then go north from that manhole to the manhole that is located behind 222 N. Lincoln Street.

This construction work consists of removal and replacement of approximately 1610 feet of 8-inch and 790 feet of 10-inch clay pipe sanitary sewer, and approximately seven (7) manholes due to the aging condition of the existing infrastructure.

The work is being done by UNO Construction Company, under contract with the Downers Grove Sanitary District.

Please note, general access to the streets, sidewalks and alleys during the day will be restricted while the contractor is working. The contractor will restore access to an area after working hours and on weekends. Construction activities begin promptly at 7 a.m. and may extend to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

The project is expected to be completed by December 10, 2018.
