Last week the District was pleased to host a workshop in partnership with the Water Technology Alliance (WTA), part of the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago. The workshop titled “From Energy Consumer to Energy Producer: The American WWTP of the Future” addressed practical methods and tools to achieve energy neutral wastewater treatment.

On Saturday, June 10, District employees joined a group from First United Methodist Church, Downers Grove for the annual DuPage County River Sweep. Volunteers picked up about 17 garbage bags full of debris along St. Joseph Creek behind our wastewater treatment plant. Yesterday the District welcomed two delegates from Costa Rica to our Wastewater Treatment Center. Last week, the District hosted tours of the wastewater treatment plant for 6th graders from Eisenhower Jr High School in Darien. More than 160 students had the opportunity to see firsthand how the treatment plant operates. During their field trip, students also visited the DuPage Water Commission, the Elmhurst Quarry and SCARCE to learn more about water, how it is treated and what we can do to conserve it. Learn…

On Monday, the District hosted tours of the wastewater treatment plant for students from Clarendon Hills Middle School. More than 200 students had the opportunity to see firsthand how the treatment plant operates and to learn about the sanitary district’s role in the community. Due to the District’s administration office being closed on Friday, April 14 in observance of Good Friday, this month’s sewer bill due date is Monday, April 17. Sewer bills are normally due on the 15th of the month. The District’s office will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday for customers to pay their bill in person. The District recently installed a bill payment kiosk in our Administration Office for customers who want to pay with a credit card in our office. The kiosk directs customers to the District website where they can easily access the online billing portal, Invoice Cloud. Through Invoice Cloud, customers can pay their sewer bill with a credit card or e-check. Please note, there is a convenience fee to use this service….

Recycling used cooking oil helps divert thousands of pounds of oil and grease away from sewers, preventing major clogs and issues.
